Apartment hunting in NYC proved to be more challenging than I had ever anticipated. The biggest challenge was getting the broker to respond to my inquiries. I cannot tell you how many inquiries I sent with zero response. However, when I reached out to Yakub, he responded immediately and answered all of my questions (and there were many), and went out of his way to assist me with securing an apartment. While I was looking to exit my lease, Yakub took the initiative to offer his services. I will admit, at first I was reluctant, but at the end of the day Yakub really came through. I was having a difficult time with the management company but Yakub managed the situation himself without my need to be involved which I really appreciate given my own busy schedule and his respectful demeanor. He was extremely courteous in working around my schedule for all the appointments he made, and when I was around during some showing(eavesdropping of course) I could overhear him offering the prospective tenants straight forward and honest information. My sister-in-law recommended Yakub when I was in search of commercial property in Manhattan. Yakub really stepped up to help me in a difficult situation. My previous rental agreement was set to terminate on May 1st. I began the apartment search in March, but the COVID-19 pandemic made it extremely difficult to contact realtors. Eventually, I only had 10 days left on my lease and no place to move. Yakub was a tremendous help in our apartment search. We were living in Florida and were trying to rent an apartment without seeing it in-person. Actually, I planed to give up to rent my apartment out after serval agents gave me unfair conditions like: a lot of lower than market rent or my apartment is too far from the place they live unless I would to pay for the agent fee. Very professional and responsible! I had to find a new tenant in about 10 days since I was moving out of the state. He was confident he would find a new tenant for me to take over the lease, and he DID find one before I move out! Yakub reached out to me to list my unit and I'm so glad that I agreed to work with him! My co-op is located in Manhattan and I now live more than four hours away so previously renting my place had been tedious as I did all of the work myself and thought that no other person would take the care that I do. But I was wrong. From the beginning Yakub was patient with me, respected my trepidation, and worked hard to build trust and rapport. He went above and beyond in working with the current tenant to get professional photos of the space. The tenant even mentioned to me how nice she thought he was during this process! He worked with me long distance to obtain access to the unit and when confronted, sought to ensure the building shareholders were comfortable with him as he held showings. He met my rental deadline and stayed on top of everything! Its sad to say but I never really thought of anyone in real estate as being honest or genuine but he truly is. You can tell he takes pride in his work and reputation. Unfortunately, the tenant he found for me will most likely be a long term renter so I will not have the opportunity to work with Yakub in the immediate future (happy/sad). But better believe I'll be looking for him when the time comes.
