First of all I was dreading looking for an apartment in Ny again. I’ve lived in Ny for 30 years and moved west for a year and found myself moving back to NY. I responded to a listing of Terry's. I got a response promptly. We meet the following day to view a few apartments that she put together for me to view according my requirements of what I was looking for. I own a two-family house on 30th avenue in Astoria. My family occupies one apartment and I was looking to rent the second. I had listed the apartment with several real estate offices in the area, advertised it online but initially not with Terry. I met her when she contacted me on behalf of her client. This client did not end up renting the apartment but I was so glad to have met her! She was very sincere, and made me feel as if I had known her for a long time. She brought many people to view it within the same week, as many as all other real estate offices together! When looking for apartments in NYC, it is usually a miserable and stressful process filled with obviously sleazy salesmanship. Anything to get the fee, eh? So, when my company decided to send me back to the NYC metro area from Atlanta, I wasn't thrilled to start apartment hunting. Usually, realtors in the NYC metro area tend to be hard to get in touch with and cease responding if you aren't happy and willing to put a down payment on the first apartment that they show you. All of this is why I was blown away by the responsiveness, proactivity, and general sense of inclusion I experienced working WITH Terry. These are three key tenets that you expect a realtor should live by. Terry answered all calls/texts in a timely (instant more often than not) fashion, reached out to me with apartments that matched my criteria, and made it feel like a team effort (especially given the lack of pushy sales techniques). It feels good when a realtor is not just showing you the apartment you requested to look at, but suggesting others that are under what you budgeted for and nicer than what you originally requested to view. Furthermore, in my experience, it's rare that realtors listen to you worth a damn to remember what you requested to look at, and even rarer that their descriptions about the apartments are accurate. This wasn't the case working with Terry over the past week, which was even more refreshing and speaks to her knowledge of the condition of the apartments she is showing.
